Delhi is known as the 'City of Seven Castles' where Castles represent 'Forts' that were built in imaginable designs with massive formidable and impregnable walls that have surprisingly survived against the test of times and has seen numerous battles through these centuries.
For every city that was built in Delhi, the reigning dynasty constructed their own Fort for the benefit of their kingdom and built as a protective wall that shielded the city from outside intrusions. Thus, every city had one Fort and hence, the capital is seen with Seven Majestic Forts of which some are in complete ruins.
